When I saw an adorable personalized DIY ABC book at http://www.modernparentsmessykids.com, I was enthused. What a great Christmas present idea for Emma! She is so enthusiastic about learning her letters; I knew she would love having each letter relate to her own life. I have to be honest, I love pictures, and I may even occasionally (quit laughing) go overboard taking photos of Emma. Considering the size of my collection of snapshots of all things Emma, I figured I would have no problem finding appropriate material. However, I thought finding clipart and fonts and setting the whole book up might be a big task. Although I thoroughly enjoyed C’s ABC book and was completely impressed with it, I also knew it would not quite do for Emma. A toddler girl needs a little more pretty and sparkle. That was when I remembered I am lazy, and a Dr. Suess book would probably be good enough.
I was still playing with the idea when I checked my email. I had a lovely surprise – a coupon for a free 8×8 photo book from Shutterfly. I went to the site, http://www.shutterfly.com, and found an even better surprise. Shutterfly has an ABC book template. After doing a little victory dance, I spent a couple of hours trying to decide which pictures worked best with each letter. This is harder than it sounds, I promise. Once I had my selections, I simply dropped them into each page. Next, I added captions with a few simple clicks of the mouse, and in an amazingly short time, I had my masterpiece completed.
Having someone else do my work for me is awesome, but that was not even the best part. After redeeming my coupon, I paid only eight dollars and some change for shipping my FREE book. How great is that?
